Description
Seeing Forest began with a photograph of aspen trees in the mountains of Utah, where the natural markings in the pale bark form shapes that look remarkably like eyes. Among a forest of tall white trunks, suddenly it feels as though the trees are looking back.
Printed on raw canvas, the photograph is extended with acrylic—the greens building a deeper forest behind the aspens and the brilliant blue recalling the “bluebird days” of the Utah mountains. Photography and painting overlap, creating a forest that is partly observed and partly imagined.
