Description
We Are Family began with an unlikely discovery between a new friend and me: we both had dried cotton stems displayed in our bathrooms. Sometimes, connection can be hiding in the smallest things. The strange coincidence inspired a family of cotton balls and a reflection on how much we can have in common without knowing it.
Thin washes of acrylic give the cotton forms the delicacy of watercolor, while impossibly fine stems of 22k gold are applied using the traditional Japanese kirikane technique.
